Berliner Stadtreinigung

Jira Solman Integration

Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) is one of the largest employers in Berlin and is the municipal waste management company in Germany.

BSR’s core business includes waste disposal and recycling, as well as urban cleanliness and winter services.

Project duration:
4 weeks

Project goal:
Integration of Jira into SAP Solution Manager processes

In the course of digital transformation, the term agility is gaining more and more importance. Companies from all industries are thus increasingly faced with the conflict of maintaining traditional and proven methods while adapting to new agile business models.

BSR, for instance, was also faced with the problem of having to coordinate a number of tools that organize tasks in Jira and the Solution Manager separately and manually. The challenge in this project therefore was to find an efficient way to integrate the agility of Jira into the already proven Solution Manager processes without having to sacrifice its change and quality control.

Therefore, BSR decided to implement a solution that connects both systems and makes it possible to manage IT and business in a centralized and straightforward way.

Essentially, the goal of the project was to design a solution for BSR within a few weeks that combined agility and traditional effectiveness. In order to meet the tight schedule, our team had to resort to agile methods themselves and critically analyze the theoretical concept development as well as our working methods repeatedly.

The Cross Connector for BSR, which emerged from the project, enables BSR to use its Jira Board in an agile manner while at the same time being able to fall back on proven Solman processes. The task was to seamlessly integrate the Jira user stories into the existing change and test management of the Solution Manager. Thanks to the tailor-made solution, a smooth implementation and increased employee satisfaction could be achieved.
